Trophy Caribou Hunt
Our guided caribou hunts take place in the
Kilbuck Mountains East of Bethel. The herd we hunt is the Mulchatna
herd and last count was over 100,000 animals. This herd consistently
produces numerous B&C bulls every year. The herd migrates through
the hunting area’s August – October.
The hunting method is spot and stalk. Most
of the animals are harvested within 1 – 2 miles from camp,
although as with all Alaskan hunting it helps if you can walk up
to 5 miles a day.
Your camp will be at 800 – 2500 ft in
elevation. The rolling tundra covered valleys provide relatively
easy walking. Plan to hunt in leather boots, hip boots are used
for crossing streams.
Caribou hunts are fun hunts and ideal for larger
groups of hunters who want to hunt out of the same base camp.
All guided caribou hunters will have
the camp and guides to themselves unless other arrangements have
been made ahead of time. All camps consist of cooking tents and
sleeping tents. Larger hunting groups will have a cook in camp and
smaller groups will have meals prepared by their guide.
